HC Deb 07 May 1953 vol 515 cc41-2W
59. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many distant fishing trawlers, operating from Hull and Grimsby, are now laid up; and how many have ceased fishing this year owing to their inability to meet costs.

Mr. Nugent

At 4th May, 21 Hull and Grimsby distant-water vessels were laid up. I understand that 18 of these were undergoing refit or survey. I have no information as to the reasons for laying-up the remaining three.
