§ 76. Sir D. Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that a number of crofter-fishermen in Caithness and Sutherland lost their small fishing craft in the storm and flooding of 30th-31st January and that in other cases they suffered serious damage; and, as it never has been the practice to insure such craft, if he will state from what fund Her Majesty's Government have arranged for the cost of rebuilding or repairing of craft and engines to be met.
§ Mr. J. StuartCrofter fishermen whose uninsured boats were damaged by the storm may apply to the local committee of the Lord Mayor's Fund whose addresses I gave on 12th March in reply to a Question asked by my hon. Friend. I understand that some such claims have already been made.
