HC Deb 19 March 1953 vol 513 c20W
25. Mr. J. T. Hall

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the county borough of Gateshead is the black spot for tuberculosis on the North-East Coast; that the clinic in use is inadequate; and if he will take urgent steps to see that a new building with up-to-date equipment, large enough to cope with present-day needs, is provided.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Both the regional hospital board and I myself are fully aware of the urgent need to provide a new chest clinic for Gateshead. This must, however, be fitted in with other urgent demands on the board's limited capital allocation.
