asked the Ministei of Education the average cost of each new school provided in 1952; and what were the corresponding figures for each of the last five years.

60. Mr. Remnant

asked the Minister of Education the total cost of new grammar school building since the war to the end of 1952.

£9.1 million. This includes some expenditure on schools which are only partly grammar schools.

61. Mr. Remnant

asked the Minister of Education how much of the new grammar school building since the war has been in replacement of old buildings and how much is additional.

Expenditure of £2.3 million has been approved for new premises for existing grammar schools and £6.8 million for entirely new schools. These totals do not include the cost of extending existing schools.
