Mr. Holt

asked the Minister of Food what imported foods, on which a subsidy was subsequently paid, bore import duties during the 12 months ended December, 1952; and if he will give the amount of duty paid on each type of food.

(a) Duty charged on imported vegetable oils from which subsidised cooking fat and margarine were manufactured.
(b) Estimated duty on imports put into distribution up to 14th June, 1952, after which subsidy was removed.
