HC Deb 11 March 1953 vol 512 c118W
31. Brigadier Clarke

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General why he is making facilities available for foreigners to view Coronation television in preference to British subjects.

Mr. Gammans

There is no question of making facilities available for foreigners in preference to British subjects. As I said in my answer to the hon. and learned Member for Aberdeen, North (Mr. Hector Hughes) on 28th January, the equipment used would be quite unsuitable for a television station in this country. In any case, the relay from the Channel will be the responsibility of the countries taking the Coronation programme.
