asked the Assistant Postmaster-General the estimated effect on the estimated commercial account profit of the recent wage awards and increases for Post Office workers.

The net additional charge in the Commercial Income and Expenditure Account for 1953–54 as a result of pay increases granted since 1st April last is estimated to be £3.8 million, of which the recently granted increases for rank and file manipulative grades account for £3.4 million.
