81. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what is his estimate of the grant he will make to the National Coal Board under Section 11 of the Coal Mining Subsidence Act, 1950, for the calendar year 1953.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

On present information the statutory maximum of £250,000 will be required.

82. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power to what extent the sum of £500,000, granted by his Department to the National Coal Board under Section 11 of the Coal Mining Subsidence Act, 1950, falls short of one-half of the additional expenditure incurred by the Board, by virtue of the Act, in the period between the passage of the Act and 31st December, 1952.
