§ 72. Mr. N. Macphersonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a further statement on the naturalisation of ex-enemy prisoners of war.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeYes. As from 1st June, 1953, I shall be ready to consider applications from ex-enemy prisoners of war who have resided in the United Kingdom for five years from the date of their obtaining civilian status. Poles who assisted the enemy may also apply, or draw further attention to their cases, as from the same date including those individuals who have been informed 153W by my Department that they may not do so until some later date. Applications will be dealt with as quickly as possible, but there may be some delay as the resources for making the necessary inquiries are limited.
