asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the present status of the territory known as the Canal Zone in Egypt.

Mr. Nutting

The territory in question is part of Egypt. Under the 1936 Treaty Her Majesty's Government have the right to station certain forces there. The existence of these rights does not, however. affect the status of the territory.
