HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 cc62-3W
98. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what machinery exists to enable the grade or category of dilutee engineering tradesman to make representations pertaining only to employees in this grade or category; and if he is aware that no recognised trade union exists at present which is prepared to give these employees full membership and advance the claim of the overwhelming majority of them for deregistration.

Mr. Ward

The Engineering Trades Joint Council provides machinery for joint discussion, between representatives of Government Departments and trade unions, of matters which concern all Government industrial engineering workers. There is no special machinery for dealing solely with matters affecting dilutee tradesmen. Eligibility for membership is entirely a matter for the trades unions concerned.
