HC Deb 16 December 1953 vol 522 c70W
109. Major Anstruther-Gray

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the increasing volume both of passengers and freight handled by Scottish airports, he will make a statement of his proposals for bringing additional airports into use, particularly in the East of Scotland.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Although I hope that the satisfactory increase in traffic at Scottish aerodromes will continue, I have no reason to believe that the existing number of aerodromes is not sufficient. In the absence of any requirement by air operators I have no proposals to increase this number. If an independent company should be ready to serve Errol I would most carefully consider any recommendation which the Air Transport Advisory Council might make on an application from such a company.
