asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many men and women have qualified for the Central Training Council's certificate in the residential care of children in each year from 1948 to 1952, inclusive; how many men and women failed to complete the course of training in each of these years; how many who did complete the course failed to obtain the certificate; how many of those to whom certificates were awarded are known to be still employed in children's homes; and what was the total average cost, including charges to the Home Office and educational bodies, of training a student in each of the above mentioned years.
