HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c128W
82. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Works what steps he is taking to ensure a continuity of employment for the men employed on rebuilding in the city of Bristol in view of his decision to restrict further building work for three months; and to what extent war-damaged towns will be placed in a different category for capital allocation from those that were undamaged.

Mr. Eccles

The Government's decisions are intended to enable building schemes to proceed at a better pace by reducing the overload of work and care will be taken to maintain continuity of employment. As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government to the hon. Member for Plymouth, Sutton (Mr. J. J. Astor) on the 20th November.
