HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c128W
81. Mr. J. E. Crowder

asked the Minister of Works how many tons of waste paper is now available from the surplus Festival of Britain books and catalogues which were not used; and what is the financial loss involved.

Mr. Eccles

About 1,600 tons of paper were used for Festival Office books and publications put on sale. About 350 tons of surplus publications are to be pulped. The total estimated cost of production of the publications printed for sale is approximately £370,000 and the revenue from the sales and advertisements in the publications and for pulping is around £350,000, after allowing for discounts to booksellers but not for distribution costs at the exhibitions.
