HC Deb 13 November 1951 vol 493 cc17-8W
68. Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an assurance that the Government will not cut any of the social services; and whether it is his intention to make financial provision for an increase in the old-age pension.

Mr. R. A. Butler:

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement of the Government's intention in the Gracious Speech. The needs of old age pensioners are ever present in my mind, but I cannot make any statement.
