HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 cc250-1W
89. Mr. Joynson-Hicks

asked the Minister of Works whether he is aware of the loss and unemployment resulting from his refusal to grant a building licence for the extension of the factory of C. Shippam, Ltd., at Chichester; and if he will reconsider his decision.

Mr. Stokes

Owing to the heavy programme of defence work in this area it is not possible to allow work on the extension of Messrs. Shippam's factory at Chichester, to start for the time being. In view of the undoubted merit of the project the application will be reviewed in six months' time.
