HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 c251W
Mr. Marples

asked the Minister of Works how much cement he estimates will be needed to meet the requirements of the defence programme for the calendar years 1951, 1952 and 1953.

Mr. Stokes

It is impossible to state with precision the requirements of the defence programme for cement for three years ahead in advance of the planning of the individual jobs. I have taken account, however, of defence needs in asking the cement manufacturers to be prepared to deliver 9.2 million tons of cement to the home market in the present year.
