HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 c250W
31. Mr. Marples

asked the Minister of Works how many bricks he estimates will be needed to meet the requirements of the defence programme for the calendar years 1951, 1952 and 1953.

Mr. Stokes

It is impossible to state with precision the requirements of the defence programme for bricks for three years ahead, in advance of the planning of the individual jobs. I have taken account, however, of defence needs in calling for an increase in the production of bricks to a yearly rate of 7.4 thousand million as soon as possible.
