HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c232W
102. Sir T. Moore

asked the Minister of Food if he will explain the reasons which guided him in selling the apples recently sent as a gift by the people of Canada to the people of Britain and retaining the proceeds.

Mr. F. Willey

There has been no recent gift of this kind. I think the hon. Member is referring to the generous gift of more than a million boxes of apples made by British Columbian growers nearly a year ago. If so, I would refer him to the reply my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Members for Renfrew, East (Major Lloyd) and Newbury (Mr. Hurd) on 28th June last year.
