HC Deb 21 June 1951 vol 489 cc76-7W
89. Mr. Dye

asked the Minister of Labour how many regular workers were employed in agriculture in England and Wales in March of this year and the previous year; and whether he is satisfied the numbers are sufficient for an expanding output.

Mr. Lee

Five hundred and forty-two thousand in March this year and 546,000 in March last year. The agricultural labour force, including non-regular workers should, in my view, be generally adequate to meet production requirements this year.
