HC Deb 04 June 1951 vol 488 cc63-4W
63. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will resist any proposal to include in the embargo of exports to China drugs necessary to alleviate, cure or prevent diseases affecting Chinese troops and civilians.

Mr. Younger

The embargo imposed in pursuance of the Resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 18th May does not apply to drugs. I know of no other proposal to embargo the export of drugs to China. I would prefer not to anticipate what view His Majesty's Government would take if such a proposal were to be made.
