§ 100. Mr. Llewellynasked the Minister of Food by how much the prices of rationed foods have increased since he made his forecast that by the end of 1951 the cost of rationed foods per ration book would increase by 8½d.; and whether that estimate still holds good.
§ Mr. WebbRetail price increases already announced and put into effect have added 3½d. to the cost of rationed foods per head per week since 1st April, 1951. We shall have to make further increases (such as on meat) but, subject to unforeseen increases in procurement and distribution costs, my estimate still holds good.
