HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 cc242-3W
35. Sir R. Glyn

asked the Minister of Food what increase over £70 a ton it is proposed to pay the Nigerian Marketing Board for groundnuts; how the present crop prospects compare with those of last season; and what is the estimated total that will be available to his Department in 1951–52.

Mr. Webb

The price for next season's crop will not be decided until about October this year, and will of course depend on circumstances at the time. Planting has not yet started and it is therefore impossible to predict how it will turn out or what quantities we shall get in 1952. We expect to get about 130,000 tons this year from the crop recently harvested.
