HC Deb 05 February 1951 vol 483 cc173-4W
104. Mr. J. Rodgers

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what adjustment has been made in the wages of temporary clerks, Grade III, in the Ministry of National Insurance to take account of the increase in the cost of living.

Mr. Jay

Temporary clerks are employed on similar terms in most Government Departments. The maxima of the scales of pay for all grades of temporary clerk throughout Government Departments were increased by 8s. a week for men and 6s. a week for women as from 1st October, 1950. This settlement was agreed with the representative Staff Association who have, however, asked for it to be reopened. I am considering their claim.
