HC Deb 04 December 1950 vol 482 cc7-8W
73. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyre

asked the Minister of Transport for what reason he confirmed the county council of the County of Southampton (Traffic Regulation) No. 1 Order, 1950, High Street of Hythe, Prohibition of Waiting, without holding a local inquiry, in view of the objections lodged against the making of this order.

Mr. Barnes

The objectors proposed that instead of waiting being entirely prohibited on part of High Street, Hythe, it should be allowed on the west side. The street is only 13 to 14 feet wide and this is insufficient to allow waiting, except for essential access. In these circumstances I decided that a public enquiry was not necessary.
