HC Deb 21 February 1949 vol 461 cc223-4W
17. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Food how many inspectors have been employed in the last month visiting farms in Berkshire; why they do not first approach the farmer or someone else responsible before they enter barns and other premises; and what has been discovered in the course of these visits.

Mr. Strachey

During the last month 13 Enforcement Inspectors have visited farms at different times in Berkshire. We are looking into some apparent cases of infringement of the food regulations. All Enforcement Inspectors are instructed to approach the farmer or his representative before beginning their inspection.
