HC Deb 14 February 1949 vol 461 c120W
90. Mr. MacLeod

asked the Minister of Transport why he has refused a grant towards the cost of a first instalment of a road scheme as far as Arrina, a distance of approximately seven miles from Shieldaig, which would ultimately fit in with a scheme to provide a road on the north coast of Applecross.

Mr. Callaghan

My right hon. Friend has refused a grant towards this scheme because the limited resources which can at present be made available for road construction and improvement must be devoted to more urgent and important work.
