asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether markets have now been found for all the salt produced in the Turks and Caicos Islands; and to what extent the money paid since 1942 by His Majesty's Government in support of the salt industry has now been recovered.

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, of the £37,000 paid by His Majesty's Government in support of the Turks and Caicos Islands salt industry, £25,218 has been repaid so far.
