HC Deb 04 February 1948 vol 446 cc297-8W
Mr. D. J. Williams

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress is being made in improving the conditions of the bungalows on the Hirwaun Trading Estate, Glamorganshire; if the tenants have been consulted as to the improvements that are necessary; what is the estimated cost of the repairs; and when he expects the work to be completed.

Mr. H. Wilson

After a detailed investigation by the estate company in conjunction with the Welsh Board of Health, extensive repairs to these sub-standard houses, the improvement of the drainage of the site and the completion of the installation of central heating are now under way. Frequent discussions have been held between the estate company and the tenants who are fully aware of the work which is being carried out. The total estimated cost is £25,200. Repairs to 24 houses are almost complete and the balance of the work should be finished by mid-summer.
