HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 c241W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Food how many demonstration kitchens and similar vehicles are owned by his Department; what is their capital cost; how many persons, men and women respectively, are employed; and what is the annual cost of this service.

Mr. Strachey

Twenty-one demonstration vans are owned by my Department and used as part of the Food Advice Service. Their depreciated capital cost at 31st March, 1947, was £12,800. I cannot give figures of employment or annual cost, as the vans form an integral part of the Food Advice Service and their staffing and cost are not separately recorded.
