HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 c241W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Food if he has considered details which have been sent to him about the dates of apple price controls, and the advisability of altering those dates, when forced rhubarb and Cape fruit is finished; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Strachey

I have considered the suggestion referred to by the hon. Member but cannot accept it. We do not want to encourage storage beyond the natural term, and there will be other fruit, including home-grown rhubarb, on the market when apple prices go down.
