HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 cc240-1W
Mr. York

asked the Minister of Food the total amount of animal feedingstuffs, in tons, made available to the agricultural industry in 1946 and 1947 from imported goods, including offals and residues; and the total feedingstuffs made available, including offals and residues, from home-grown crops.

Mr. Strachey

The total amount of animal feedingstuffs made available to the agricultural industry through the Feedingstuffs Rationing Scheme was 2,860,000 tons in 1946 and 2,804,000 tons in 1947. These quantities include imported feedingstuffs and residues derived from imported materials totalling about 1,884,000 tons in 1946 and 1,968,000 tons in 1947. The balances were provided from grains and residues from home grown crops. The above quantities take no account of home grown feedingstuffs retained on farms, or feedingstuffs supplied outside the rationing scheme.
