HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 c57W
Sir I. Fraser

asked the President of he Board of Trade if when the leather and other controllers have to reduce imports from South Africa, it is the intention to do so without discrimination; or when they have to cut certain firms out of the list, whether those who are buyers of British goods will be favoured.

Mr. Bottomley

The reduced purchases of leather for the last quarter of the year were much below the total of offers received, and were taken from those exporters whose offers were deemed by the Control most favourable in price and quality.
