HC Deb 28 November 1947 vol 444 c319W
Mr. Hurd

asked the Postmaster-General if any limit is set to the number of parcels which a German prisoner may send to Germany, and if the normal postage rate is charged.

Mr. Shinwell

I have been asked to reply. Prisoners of war are now allowed to send one postage-free parcel every three months. If they have the necessary sterling for postage stamps, they may also send one gift food parcel and one gift, parcel a month, at normal postage rates. As a special Christmas concession they are being allowed to send one extra postage-free parcel during November.
