§ Mr. Parkinasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has given further consideration to the size of the cut proposed in capital investment in 1948.
§ Sir S. CrippsYes. Having regard to the more rapid progress that it is estimated can be made in completion of houses already under contract it is now estimated that without the allocation of any more materials than had been planned the amount of capital investment in 1948 on housing will be £20 million greater than was previously thought possible. The cut in investment for 1948 has, therefore, been reduced from £200 million to £180 million.
