HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 cc11-2W
97. Wing-Commander Robinson

asked the Minister of Supply what has been the cost to date of the S.R.45, the D.H.106, and the Bristol Brabazon aircraft, including in each case the cost of extensions to workshops, hangars and runways; what is the estimated cost of completion of the work in each case; and whether a definite decision has been taken to complete this work.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

The approximate costs to date, including workshops, hangars and runways, are as follows:

£
Saunders Roe civil flying boat 650,000
De Havilland 106 800,000
Brabazon I 5,750,000

The cost of completion cannot at present be estimated, as it depends on the number of production aircraft ordered. With regard to the last part of the Question, projects of this kind are necessarily under continual review in the light of the technical progress achieved.
