HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 c4W
34. Mr. Marlowe

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that the recent cuts in priority milk leave many diabetic cases with insufficient; and, in view of the fact that his medical advisers previously advocated seven pints a week for such cases, on what medical grounds the present allowance of five pints is justified.

Mr. Strachey

Owing to the shortage of milk it became necessary to reduce the allowances to several priority classes. The medical advisers to my Ministry were of course consulted on the matter and preferred these reductions to the alternatives.
