HC Deb 27 March 1947 vol 435 c211W
4. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Health how many extra nurses have been obtained this year as a result of his recent appeal; whether the present position is satisfactory; and what further steps are contemplated.

Mr. J. Edwards

Over 1,000 persons, including 600 qualified nurses, assistant nurses and midwives have taken up employment in hospitals as a result of the recent appeal for part-time staff in London. Many more are needed and recruitment measures are being continued and extended.
