asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty when he will announce a decision in regard to the claim for improved pay for locally-entered staffs employed at Malta, submitted to the three service Ministries on 6th September, 1946.

As regards the claim addressed to the Admiralty, I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the hon. Member for Rugby (Mr. W. J. Brown) on 26th February. The report from Malta there mentioned has now been received and is under examination. It should be possible shortly to hold the necessary inter-departmental discussions, to be followed by a communication on all three claims to the Staff Association concerned.
