HC Deb 12 March 1947 vol 434 c190W
67. Mr. W. J. Brown

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he will now say when his Department will be in the position to agree to the reference to the Civil Service Arbitration Tribunal of a claim made on behalf of locally-entered staffs at Malta, who served at various establishments in the Middle East during the war, that they should be given the same foreign service allowance as was paid to United Kingdom staffs with whom they worked.

Mr. W. Edwards

The proposals recently made by the Civil Service Clerical Association for arbitration on the Colonial Allowance rates payable to locally-entered Maltese staffs while serving in the Middle East are receiving consideration. I hope that it will be possible to let the Association have a reply at an early date.
