HC Deb 11 March 1947 vol 434 cc160-1W
102 Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary of State for War how many Polish soldiers under British orders are stationed in the Middle East; what duties they are performing; and how soon they are to be disbanded as military units.

Mr. Bellenger

About 6,000, Sir. They are employed on guard and other duties under the orders of the Commander-in-Chief. As soon as practicable they will be moved to the United Kingdom to join the Polish Resettlement Corps and the Polish units to which they belong will be disbanded.
