§ 78 Mr. D. J. Williamsasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the decision of the Powell Duffryn Company, Limited, to establish a factory at Hayes, Middlesex, for the manufacture of coal by-products; and why this project is not being located in the South Wales development area.
§ Mr. BelcherI am informed that the acquisition of this factory for the use of Delanium Ltd. a subsidiary of Powell Duffryn Co. Ltd., will enable their existing premises to be used for research and development work. No production will be transferred from South Wales. I have no power to intervene in the acquisition of existing factories by private treaty.
