HC Deb 11 March 1947 vol 434 c152W
79. Mr. Burden

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the shortage in Sheffield of 34-inch by 7-inch heavy-duty tyres and that many lorries, including those used for the delivery of coal, cannot at present be moved owing to defective tyres; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy the shortage.

Mr. Belcher

The supply of 34 x 7 tyres for replacements has been overtaking demand slowly. Steps have been taken to ensure that no lorry is immobilised for lack of tyres, and, if there is serious risk of this happening, the owner should bring the facts to the notice of the tyre manufacturer through his supplier.
