HC Deb 27 February 1947 vol 433 c326W
Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether the flags bearing the initials N.C.B. which were hoisted on 1st January at every coalmine, are made of silk or cotton; how much timber was used for the flag poles; whether they are a standard size; and who paid for the poles and the flags.

Mr. Shinwell

The expenditure was borne by the National Coal Board; not out of public funds. I have no information on the matter.
