HC Deb 24 February 1947 vol 433 c242W
93. Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that residents in Upton, West Ham, have been short of potatoes since 13th February and now, in many parts of West Ham, potatoes are unobtainable; and what action he proposes to take to alleviate this shortage.

Dr. Summerskill

West Ham had its fair share of the potatoes arriving in London during the week which began on 13th February. We are doing all we can to increase deliveries to consuming areas, and to ensure even distribution, but any improvement will depend largely on the weather.
