HC Deb 24 February 1947 vol 433 cc239-40W
Brigadier Low

69, 70 and 71. asked the Minister of Works (1) what considerations will govern the choice by him of the four small hotels and three large hotels which he expects to retain under requisition in North Blackpool in 1948:

(2) for how many civil servants he provides living accommodation in North Blackpool in buildings under his control;

(3) for how many persons he provides office space in North Blackpool in buildings under his control.

Mr. Key

My Department at present provides in North Blackpool office space for about 10,000 civil servants and living accommodation for about 500. The choice of hotels to be retained must be governed in the main by the requirements of efficient administration and the suitability of the premises for the purpose for which they are being retained but I shall also have regard, as far as possible, to hotel requirements and the degree of hardship suffered by hotel owners as a result of requisitioning.
