HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 c295W
136. Sir G. Jeffreys

asked the Minister of Works whether in view of the timber shortages and the necessity of preserving existing timber work for as long as possible, he will authorise local authorities to issue licences more freely, in order to enable adequate painting of woodwork to be carried out.

Mr. Key

Existing instructions already provide for the necessary flexibility in the issue of licences for this type of work, within the limits of the available supply of labour and materials and subject to the needs of more urgent work.
