HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 c295W
137. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Minister of Works how many Olympic athletes and how many other persons he proposes to accommodate in the camp located in Richmond Park; on what date the first of these persons will arrive; and what is the intended length of their stay.

Mr. Key

The Organising Committee for the XIVth Olympiad is responsible for providing accommodation for Olympic athletes and their attendants. I understand that they propose to house some 1,500 athletes, 120 team managers, trainers and masseurs, and 100 domestic staff in the Richmond Park camp, which I am placing at their disposal for the purpose. The first competitors will probably arrive about the middle of June and I anticipate that all competitors will have left by the end of August.
