HC Deb 04 August 1947 vol 441 c119W
91. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Transport the estimated cost and labour involved in breaking up the Canadian by-pass road, Redhill; and the estimated cost and labour involved in repairing this road.

Mr. Barnes

I am advised that the cost of breaking up this road would be about £12,000 and that 10 men would be required for three months. The cost of repairing it to provide a satisfactory carriageway, one footpath and the necessary drainage works, is estimated at £25,000 and the number of men required at 50 for six months. In addition, it would be necessary to acquire the land.

92. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Transport the estimated cost and labour involved in constructing the Canadian bypass, Redhill, which it is now proposed to break up.

Mr. Barnes

I regret that I have no information about the cost and labour involved in the construction of this road, which was carried out by the Canadian Army.
